Investment Team

MSAM traces its roots to the creation of the Moloney Securities broker dealer, by John Moloney in 1995 and the later creation of Moloney Securities Co., Inc., the Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) in 1999. Building on the investment management influence of work early in his career at the Lindner Funds, Ron Medley created MSAM to provide an AIMR/GIPS compliant, separately managed account alternative to individual and institutional investors in 2002. Biographies of each of the MSAM principals are listed below:

E. John Moloney
Chief Executive Officer

Moloney is President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Moloney Securities Co., Inc., the firm he founded in 1995. He is also the CEO for the firm's RIA, Moloney Securities Co., Inc., and CEO of MSAM. Moloney currently serves on several industry boards and committees including the Small Firms Advisory Committee for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and the Small Firms Committee for the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA). He leads the Moloney Securities Co., Inc. Board of Directors, Management Committee and has chaired or been a member of several other industry organizations. Prior to founding the company, Moloney worked for other investment firms, beginning his career with Stifel, Nicolaus & Co. (St. Louis, MO) in 1973.

Ron Medley
President

Medley is President of the Moloney Securities Co., Inc. RIA and President of MSAM. He joined Moloney Securities Co., Inc. in 1999. In addition to his passion for portfolio management and leadership of the RIA, Ron serves on the Moloney Securities Co., Inc. Board of Directors and Management Committee. Prior to joining Moloney Securities in 1999, Ron worked for The America Group/Allmerica Financial and the Lindner Funds.

Ron holds a bachelor’s degree in Business/Finance from Maryville University and a master’s degree in Public Administration from St. Louis University. He and his wife, Debbie recently celebrated their 13 year anniversary and reside in Kirkwood with their five-year old son, Joseph.

Ron enjoys working with graduate student interns and his activities in the community include volunteering as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Peter’s Church, supporting pancreatic cancer research, and serving as the immediate past President of the County Communicator's Toastmasters club.
